Not being familiar with the 70s original by Maria Muldaur at the time this Brand New Heavies cover was out around 1994/'95, I thought the song was about seeing the band Oasis (in concert) at midnight - Oasis were very popular at the time so I thought this song was an ode to them! I didn't realise that "oasis" in this song actually referred to a desert - and not the band.
