Why They're Nonsensical: This refrain is all right the first time or two. But after the kids' mother comes outside and sees her husband about to jump off the roof, she is supposed to 'plead' with him not to jump. H&J sing the refrain just the same following that verse! So who planted petunias--the kids' mother or the mother's mother?
