"Rusty Old Halo"
The Lyrics: A rusty old halo a skinny white cloud second hand wings full of patches
A rusty old halo, a skinny white cloud, a robe that's so wooly it scratches Why: I was about 11 years old when I first heard this song. I thought it described an unfortunate soul who had had an unhappy life, had died, and now would spend eternity so shabbily caparisoned. One morning I had heard the refrain in a dream, and I woke up crying. Many years later, I looked for the lyrics on Google, and I came to realize that I was wrong: The subject of the song was a miserly rich man who wouldn't give anyone a dime and was now getting his just desserts. But I still cry when I hear the song.
