Story about this misheard lyric by: Simon I have looked at the lyrics at every site I could find that publishes lyrics on the Internet, and they all have this wrong. But the lyrics on these sites are not official--except in cases where the official lyrics are readily available (some record albums used to include a sheet with the lyrics, or show the lyrics on the back cover of the album). They are submitted by people who have heard the song and think that they know the lyrics. Lyrics are frequently either submitted to different sites more than once by the same person, or copied by another person and submitted. |
"Harper Valley PTA"
The Misrhymed Lyrics: There are so many. She rhymes 'wife' with 'high', 'noon' with 'room', 'date' with 'away'. But I think the most flagrant was when she tried to make 'high' rhyme with 'wild'.
Why They're Misrhymed: Good to get that off my chest.
