The Lyrics: We've been talking 'bout Jackson
Ever since the fire went out. Why: Clearly, the song is about some place called Jackson. I long assumed that it was probably about the biggest and best known U.S. location by that name, Jackson, the capital of Mississippi. But then my mother told me, like she knew for sure, that it actually refers to a smaller city of Jackson, in the adjacent state of Tennessee. I don't know where she got that information, but in the absence of any other indication, I'll go with the assumption that the reference is to Jackson, Tennessee.

The Lyrics: I'll be waiting in Jackson,
Behind my Japan fan. Why: June Carter is the one singing these particular lines. I've learned from repeatedly seeing it on karaoke monitors that the word is "Japan" here, so I suppose she means a Japanese fan. But she pronounces it "JAY - pan". For years I wondered what the heck she was saying and would have submitted it as a misheard lyric if I could have figured anything that it sounded like and had known the real lyrics.
