Story about this misheard lyric by: Hu’s On First Nearly every lyrics site on the Internet has this line written wrong (probably because they were all copying each other). It is actually a reference to Kweisi Mfume, who was the leader of the NAACP at the time the song was written (and is currently serving in Congress). Johnny Rebel (real name Clifford Trahan) is known for recording a number of racist country songs that were frequently misattributed to other artists. The TV series, The Boondocks, featured a character who was a parody of him. |
