"Midnight at the Oasis"
Misheard Lyrics: junk mail and pecans
Original Lyrics: Jump at his beck and call

Story about this misheard lyric by: Mike Roberts Ever since first hearing this song in the seventies, I have struggled to make sense of this line. It was only after seeing the actual lyrics in print that I saw the line was actually "jump at his beck and call". I always kept hearing "junk mail and pecans" |

"Midnight At The Oasis"
The Funny Lyrics: Send your camel to bed.
Why They're Funny: It's been almost 30 years but I still laugh at it. The song is obviously about having a fling out the desert so I guess it would make some ounce of sense to send your camel to bed. Who needs a threesome? hahaha

The Nonsensical Lyrics: Midnight at the oasis
Send your camel to bed Cactus is our friend Why They're Nonsensical: Lovely Maria sings a sweet tune but the song mixes up the ecology a bit. Sand dunes, oases, camels, etc., obviously evoke the image of a Saharan or Arabian desert. However, the reference to cactus places it in more of the high-desert Sonoran type. Still, it's a fun-filled song by a unique and classy artist.

"Midnight At The Oasis"
Opening Lines: Midnight at the oasis, send your camel to bed.
Comments: Mildly suggestive for its time (1975), it was about a desert love affair set in old Arabia. It might have been responsible for the most pregnancies from a 70's song, according to Matthew Greenwald of All Music Magazine. (from Wikipedia)
