Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Whatever without you
or
But am I without you?
What am I without you?
The Story: When I went to nursery school I heard one of my friends sing this song and she mistakenly sang the lyrics as "BUT am I without you?", and I used to think the actual lyrics were "WHATEVER without you," but now I know the lyrics are really "WHAT AM I without you?". - Submitted by: Isac
I'm all out of Luvs

The Story: Seriously, this song should be all about running out of diapers! Yeah right... - Submitted by: Cody Finke
Even the days are brighter
When someone you love's a spider.
Even the days are brighter
When someone you love's beside ya
The Story: This is what I heard when I was 6 years old. - Submitted by: Dia
Even the nights, Zahbetta;
Even the days, Zahbryta
Even the nights are better;
Even the days are brighter
The Story: This song came out when I was about 6 years old. I thought he was singing to people who had strange names (Zahbetta and Zahbryta). - Submitted by: Wang Chung
You will love David's Bridal
Even the days are brighter
The Story: I would have thought given the famous slogan/jingle "You'll love David's Bridal" in its ads. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
So put your hand in mind
So put your hand in mine
The Story: Once again, why we mishear “mine” as “mind” and vice versa - Submitted by: Cody Finke
Just as a ham
Just as I am
The Story: It's apparent we hear "a ham" instead of "I am". - Submitted by: Cody Finke
You know you can't afford me.
I've been loving you too long.
It started so easy.
You want some Cheerios? (Cheerios)
You know you can't fool me
I've been loving you too long
It started so easy
You want to carry on (carry on)
The Story: Always thought this was a Cheerios ad when i was a kid - Submitted by: Gabe
I know nothing at all (Mickey Mouse)
or
I know nothing at all (making love).
Out of nothing at all (making love).
The Story: My mom is a huge fan of Air Supply, so I grew up hearing this song a lot. I always thought that he (I actually thought a woman was singing the song until just recently) was singing about knowing nothing about Mickey Mouse. When my mind became less innocent, I realized that he was singing about making love, not Mickey Mouse. I still, however, thought that he was singing "I know nothing at all," so I always had a good chuckle about this random singer telling the world that he doesn't know anything about making love. It wasn't until a few weeks ago I read the title of the song and figured out what he was actually singing about. - Submitted by: David
I know when to pull your clothes off.
I know when to pull you closer.
The Story: My college roommate and I got into a big fight about this one day. She wouldn't let me play the song in our apartment because it was so 'filthy'! - Submitted by: Elizabeth
I can make your nose a cymbal
I can make the runner stumble
The Story: Of course I was loudly singing this on a bus trip (amazingly, I was sober) when the entire bus stopped singing and looked at me. (If he can make love out of nothing, why can't he make a nose a cymbal?) Needless to say it was a long bus ride. I still can't live it down. - Submitted by: Timi Zhuo
I'm bleeding of my heart is a drum, and it's lost.
And the truth is for I really like you.
The beating of my heart is a drum, and it's lost.
And it's looking for a rhythm like you.
The Story: Finally, a song that originally recorded by a soft rock band I posting here. The original lyrics was does not mention to the song "Beat of My Heart" by Hilary Duff but the later lyrics that I hear some times ago was also does not mention to another songs like rock opera's "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" by Meat Loaf (Jim Steinman's later work that in later recording including the word "drums" that originally more explicit than the soft rock duo's work), progressive rock's "Nights in White Satin" by The Moody Blues (including the line "...the truth is"), and pop rock's "I Really Like You" by Carly Rae Jepsen. Also, seemly in "Making Love Out of Nothing at All" and The Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin" musically, both songs are completely similar and I called both songs as an "opera-class". About this song: "Making Love Out of Nothing at All" originally written and composed by Jim Steinman and first released for the Australian soft rock band's 1983 compilation album, "The Greatest Hits". It peaking at #2 on Billboard's Pop Chart for three weeks (behind "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler, giving Steinman a consecutive peak of two songs). This is the outfit's last time they have a Top 10 hit in Billboard's Pop Chart. On the other hand, in the UK Singles Chart, they have four singles charting on that chart. That four singles are "All Out of Love", "Even the Nights Are Better", "Making Love Out of Nothing at All", and "Goodbye". "Making Love Out of Nothing at All" itself was reaching #80. Later, Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler herself who previously topping her own song "Total Eclipse of the Heart" on Billboard's Pop Chart this time covered "Making Love Out of Nothing at All" on her album, "Free Spirit". - Submitted by: Wisnu Aji
