Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

or
I shall drink in and always be full
But I won't drink in and always be full.
I shall drink in and always be full
Yeah I will drink it and always be full.
The Story: 'My cup shall always be full' has been wrong and misheard inside the cd lyric booklet of 'Four' by the Blues Traveler. - Submitted by: Mike Hack
Could you?
Why you want to give me what I want?
or
For you.
Why you want to give me round and round?
But you.
Why you wanna give me a run-around?
The Story: Maybe, next time I play this song. About this song: While this song is not number-one on some greatest lists, but this song was their highest position on both "Top 10000 Pop Songs of All Time" and Rock Channel's "Top Pop Songs of All Time". Fortunately, my favorite drinks like coffee and tea are mention on the lyric of this song. For easily, not all choruses can be seen. - Submitted by: Wisnu Aji
I shall drink in an honest people
Yeah, I won't drink in an always people.
I shall drink in and always be full
Yeah, I will drink it and always be full.
The Story: Shoot, I never had a clue what the song was about. I just found out the true lyrics 5 minutes ago, surfing this very site. I guess it did seem a little weird that he was perfectly willing to drink out of an honest people (person?), but wouldn't extend the same courtesy to an always people. - Submitted by: Sarah

I am bode and only
I am vulnerably
The Story: It was actually my brother who misheard the lyric. For years, I thought he was just being funny. But as it turns out, he really thought that's what the song said! But WHAT does 'bode and only' MEAN?!?! :-) - Submitted by: jaime
