Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

I have a mighty crush with Allison.
A mighty crash without a sound.
The Story: I was listining to the song before the game came out on some website when I heard the one lyric I was confused. ' Is there an Allison in 'Sonic'?'' I asked myself. I was going to my friends house. So, I put it on a cd and went to my friends house. He listend to it and started laughing. He said, 'Alex you twit! It does not say that!! The only reason you thought it said it is because you have a crush on Allison!!' (a girl in my class) So me and Johny fought until we decided to brawl it out on a game. - Submitted by: sonikku337
Like the rush of the wind, He goes on and on and on and on and on... He's the tower, power, he makes no shame A touch near crush and will remain
Like a rush for wind, It goes; on and on and on and on and on... He's the tower of power, Admits no shame, Untouched, crushed, will remain
The Story: I was never quite sure what he was saying, and I think you can guess why I heard what I did. I actually prefer what I heard to what he's really saying. - Submitted by: Katie
But you can hardly swallow your bees in (or and, I couldn't tell) pain
But you can hardly swallow your fears and pain
The Story: I've heard this song a million times, but somehow I still managed to hear "bees" instead of "fears". I need to clean my ears, and turn the volume up so the song doesn't seem so indistinct. When I told my mom what I heard, she started staying stuff like "Ow! It hurts in here! We're being swallowed!" and "Well of course it hurts, the bees are stinging". - Submitted by: Katie
Hanging on the edge of tomorrow
Live and Learn!
I'm a siesta man
[sings indistinctly] fundoll
You may never find your way
Hanging on the edge of tomorrow
Live and Learn!
From the works of yesterday
If you beg or if you borrow
You may never find your way
The Story: I first heard this song in a Sonic fan game called "Final Fantasy Sonic" and then in "Sonic 3D Snowboarding". I couldn't catch what the singer was really saying, and I felt really silly when I saw the actual lyrics on animelyrics.com - Submitted by: Katie
Hold on to one F!
Hold on to what if!
The Story: One day I was listening to the song and I finally heard the actual line instead of the incorrect one. I looked it up on here and I was right! - Submitted by: Rumtruffler
Remember
Live and learn
The Story: I was at school and I heard remember but it was actually live and learn - Submitted by: Elijah sturdivant
My p****'s so cute, I had to shave it.
But the Sphinx was so cute, I had to shave it.
The Story: My friend and I are huge fan's of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, and especially the new-Gen soundtracks. But, we were always puzzled by Amy's theme. Though, we never knew what she said, we had countless battles about it. Eventually, we just looked it up. Quite a funny mistake. - Submitted by: A.D.
Saving the steaks for a hero's buffet
Setting the stage for a hero's parade!
The Story: Every time that song would play that's what I would sing. - Submitted by: Benjamin Hilario
Watch me move, and by the way
Watch me say the may
Watch me rule the night away
Watch the me save the day
The Story: I had a friend that was CONVINCED that "rule the night away" wasn't even English and was just the singers bursting into gibberish. - Submitted by: Thomas
Grilled cheese for… everyone!
The thrill, the chase forever more!
The Story: I heard this song as the credits song for the Sega/EA Sports NASCAR Arcade game from 2000, and I misheard that lyric. - Submitted by: Cameron Delgado
