The Story: I thought I heard inner city Detroit vernacular when I listened to this song. I grew up there in the '70s, and I had no idea what a One-Ton Dress was, but thought it might be a local neighborhood expression. The Story: I of course was singing this at work, and being about 4 or 5 at the time it came out I guess I didn't really pay all that much attention to the words.
