Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Problem Kurb
(There goes another) problem Ker-Pop!
The Story: The first and second verses told about an ant and a ram whose High Hopes helped them succeed. I thought the bit the kids sang in the interlude, and which Sinatra continued with, was a third example, about a "Problem Kurb." And I came up with a "Mr. Zurb" to go along with it, just as there was an ant for the rubber-tree plant and a ram for the billion-kilowatt dam. Hey, I thought it was logical! - Submitted by: Doug Montgomery
Dashing through the snow (Pluto)
In a one-horse open sleigh (Today)
Dashing through the snow (To-doh)
In a one-horse open sleigh (Today)
The Story: I thought I heard the backup singers sing the name of either the smallest planet or Mickey Mouse's pet dog. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
And so the best I can do is play
And so the best I can do is pray
The Story: It made sense to hear play since it sounds like gambling at a Las Vegas casino. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
Luck be a baby tonight
Luck be a lady tonight
The Story: I kept thinking it had to do with baby - yet lady made more sense. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
All summer long we sang a song
And then we strolled that golden sand
But more, much more than this
I did it my way
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and every highway
But more, much more than this
I did it my way
The Story: Confusing one Sinatra classic with another, in this case, "The Summer Wind". - Submitted by: S. Tim Wood
Little Debbie knows
Little did we know
The Story: I also had a hunch with this, thanks to the famous "Pepperidge Farm remembers" slogan. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
Scooby-dooby-doo
Doo-bee-doo-bee-doo
The Story: I really thought that's what he said, like the theme song from Scooby Doo, Where Are You?. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
Wandering in the night
Wondering in the night
The Story: How I often confused "wander" with "wonder", and vice versa. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
Frosted little flakes
Frosted window panes
The Story: It sounded like it could have been a reference to Tony the Tiger. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
This sack of brown shoes
Are melting away.
These little town blues
Are melting away.
The Story: The misheard lyric is from the lyric section of a badly transcribed Asian bootleg. We were in a recording session, and one of the musicians brought it in. Everyone started laughing so hard, we couldn't get anything recorded for a half hour or so. - Submitted by: Lotta Bass
These Middletown blues
These little town blues
The Story: Sounded like I heard it was referring to Middletown in Orange County, NY. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
If you are a mungleberry young at heart
If you are amongst the very young at heart
The Story: What is a mungleberry? I don't know. By the way, this misheard lyric was not my own. It appeared in a newspaper column. - Submitted by: Scott McPhee
