Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

I ate the muesli
I hate the music - the people say I sing my song so well I just can't sing it without you, ooh-ooh-hooh I hate the music - 'cause every time I hear that band go 'B' It just reminds me of the - way we lived together The way we used to be, the day that life was better Back in the days you were with me-ee
The Story: I didn't mishear these lyrics. (Honest!) I was only a little kid when this song was in the charts, and back then, I listened to music aimed at pre schoolers. John Paul Young, the pop star who sang this song, was part of a public health campaign, encouraging older folk to have hearing tests. The misheard lyrics were mentioned in the press release for this. - Submitted by: Scott McPhee
