Driving over Kanaan, singing to my soul.
The Story: This one lasted for over 20 years with me, because a teacher in junior high school used the song as an illustration when we got to the vocabulary word 'macadam.' I'd believed those were the lyrics ever since...until a friend challenged me, and I had to learn the hard way not to believe everything you learn in junior high. - Submitted by: Jen

The Real Lyrics:
People out there are turning music into gold.
The Story: We were listening to this song on the radio. My mother suddenly turned to me and asked me why they would be turning music blue. It took me a few seconds to realize what she thought she heard. We laughed about that for years afterward. - Submitted by: Shawna

The Real Lyrics:
People out there turning music into gold.
The Story: I heard this song on the radio when I was a little kid, within a week of learning about the colour indigo. Everyone else and I thought it was hilarious because a lot of people in the neighbourhood, relatives and others misheard the line the exact same way; but couldn't help wondering how does one turn music indigo. It would't be a few more years until I learned of the metaphors of blue language, purple prose, swearing a blue streak and related issues. - Submitted by: PS
