Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Blinded by the light
Wracked up, like I knew she was a hooker in the night.
or
Blinded by the light
Wrapped up like a douche, another roamer in the night.
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night.
The Story: I first heard this song on a small watt college station, before it cracked the Top 40 charts of mainstream radio. While I was singing the misheard lyric, a friend of mine corrected me by explaining that a' douche' was a female hygene product and that the correct lyric was 'revved up like a deuce'(automobile). Having learned that the band was from the UK., their thick pronunciation of the word 'deuce' sounded like 'douche' to my ears. - Submitted by: Lewis H.

Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night.
The Story: Well I always thought that the guy was singing about a hooker he met (in the night, naturally), and who blinded him with her beauty. My friends all had various other insane interpretations of these lines, and even though we now know the real lyrics, we each insist that ours make more sense! - Submitted by: Sarah
And she was blinded by the light
Ripped up like a douche, you know the rumor in the night.
And she was blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night.
The Story: This is hilarious! As a little kid I'd hear some older relatives of mine playing that album, and always thought it rather odd for that band to be singing about a 'ripped-up' douche and the 'rumor in the night'. - Submitted by: Ernest
