Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Do you realize that you could have gone back to her?
Do you realize that you give it on back to her?
The Story: I always thought that the lyrics was "Do you realize that you could have gone back to her?" because it fit so well with the lyrics that follow which are "But that would only be retraced in all the problems that you ever knew, So untrue." - I might add that I always thought that line was "But that would only be retracing all the problems that you ever knew, So untrue.". Casual fissions haunt the ripples of the trading room
Dream coins for the fountain, or to cover your eyes
Puzzled visions haunt the ripples of a Trevi moon
Dream coins for the fountain, or to cover your eyes
The Story: Only now realized I'd been hearing it wrong. It makes more sense now: the verse is talking about the Trevi fountain in Rome. But I had somehow connected "coins" with "trading room." - Submitted by: Patrick
I look at my life and it looks like C & A.
I look at my life and it looks like CNN.
The Story: C & A were a chain of low-budget clothes shops in the North of England. Some said the initials stood for 'Coats And 'Ats' while others said it was 'Cheap And Awful'. I have memories of my mum taking me round C & A for clothes for school, and I bet Steve Hogarth's mum did the same, him being from Kendal. - Submitted by: pickle*
I'm remoting your eye.
I'm the mote in your eye.
The Story: Well, even though I have af reasonably good knowledge of the Bible, this it took me quite a long time to figure this one out. The wording in the Bible in my language appears to be quite different at first glance. - Submitted by: Kim Garsdal Nielsen
