Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Roaming through the night to find my place in this world
The Story: I was about eleven, and thought I was really cool cause I was listening to the same artist as my older sister. At one point, I asked her, 'Why does he want to find his face?' Needless to say, she laughed at me, and I didn't feel all that cool anymore... - Submitted by: Susi
My face in this world
My place in this world
The Story: I had heard the lyrics this way for years before my sister found another reason to laugh at her li'l bro. My mom and sis' actually got a huge kick out of this. I still hear it this way but not with each pass of the chorus. I took it as a metaphor or symbolic expression of 'place'. It feels so right that I sing it the way when alone. - Submitted by: BDS
