Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Komm her, bleib hier

The Story: Dalai Bowl is a gay craphole Scorpion says come here! - Submitted by: Rum Stein
Will you until this December
Be her bride unto forever.
Will you until death does sever
Be upright to her forever.
The Story: I was sitting in my boyfriend's room with him and we were listening to the cd. I was singing the English version and he just stared at me when that part came up. I asked what was wrong and he said that my words were wrong. I questioned this and asked what the lyrics were. After he told me, we laughed for about five mintues and joke about it to this day. - Submitted by: Fenii Gradiun
To Auch
To Auchwitz!

Du Haust
Du haust wich!
Du hast
Du hast mich.
The Story: They were playing this song at my school dance. My Jewish Social Studies teacher objected when this song played, (thinking that these were the lyrics) and that they were playing neo-Nazi music in the school. - Submitted by: 53254423
You reek so good.
Du riechst so gut.
The Story: My friend Kisa misheard this one. One day, I was listening to this and she grabbed my headphones right in the beginning of the chorus where he sings 'Du reichst so gut' and she listened to it. About two seconds later she says 'Did he just say 'You reek so good?'' Not that far off from the English, but still a funny error. - Submitted by: Madison

Big fart
Bewahret
The Story: When I was listening to the DVD in the shop, a customer heard. Then he asked me if I thought it was appropriate. Being that we are a musical instrument store, I said that it was fine. The customer then told me what he thought he had heard. I had no idea what the actual lyrics were. But it sure as heck sounds like it when you listen to it. - Submitted by: Lil_Dave
My best friend
Mein Herz brennt
The Story: I serenaded one of my friends with this: 'my best friiiiieend!' He was obviously a big fan (and knew some German), so I totally made an a** of myself. - Submitted by: Siege
Ohne dich Kaninchen ich (without you, rabbit I)
Ohne dich kann ich nicht sein (without you, I cannot be)
The Story: I actually *can* speak German -- badly -- and I was wondering what rabbits had to do with love songs. Round of applause for Jack, the dumbest music fan in existence! - Submitted by: Jack DeRippa
Rammstein
I menched Brent.

Fleischgeruch liegt in der Luft.
The Story: This was actually in a Flash cartoon on Newgrounds: Retarded Animal Babies Episode 11. - Submitted by: The Mixmaster
Hop on, hop on, Rider!
On the taker, slide the cow
My hairs slicked there, fighter!
Nor the rake inside the ground
Hop on, hop on, Rider
Im a melody in the wind
My hairs slick there, fighter!
And out my hair the wind goes zip.
Hoppe hoppe, Reitter!
Und kein Engel steigt herab
Mein Herz schlagt nicht mehr weiter
Nur der regen weintem Grab
Hoppe hoppe, Reitter! Eine Melodie im Wind Mein Herz schlagt nicht mehr weiter Und aus der Erde singt das Kind!
The Story: The lines 'hoppe hoppe, Reitter! Mein Herz schlagt nicht mehr weiter' roughly translates to 'Up, down, Rider! My heart does not continue beating anymore.' Not wise in a German restaurant in Melbourne, Australia, where waiters mistake your singing for sexual come ons! - Submitted by: scarlette rose
Tick tock, tick tock!
Zwitter, zwitter!
The Story: I thought it was really amusing to hear Rammstein shouting 'Tick Tock' (like a clock) simply due to Rammstein's amazingly evil sounding vocals. - Submitted by: Michael
