Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).
Over the rainbow again.
I feel the pain in my heart.
Can we make a brand new start?
Over the rainbow again.
I keep on loving you.
Over and over again.
I feel the pain in my heart.
Can we make a brand new start?
Over and over again.
I keep on loving you.
The Story: The first time ever I heard this song was several years ago and I think at that time it would be unknown. It sounding like Jimmy Harnen musically and vocally. Also, I think, it would be Billboard's Pop Chart hit (many peoples say them as Billboard's Hot 100). When there are listeners who request this song on a radio station that playing slow rock songs, listeners say it is Robby, the Dutch pop rock artist, and its song according to them was "Over and Over Again". The first time ever I googling it several months ago but previously I forget the singer and its song because I focusing on playing another song that made popular on Billboard's Pop Chart. Later, Sunday, 23 July 2017, in the midnight nearly morning, I'm enjoying to make me no boring. However, when another listener request this song, once again, it is Robby. When I googling Robby again, in Wikipedia, I find Robby in Dutch-language because Robby was born in the Netherlands but I can't find Robby in English-language. For the lyrical content of this song, I hear these lines of this song. At that time, when I hear this song that it's still unknown several years ago according to me, how the singer watching the rainbow while in the original version it does not say that? Later, when I googling it once again but for lyrics of this song, it say "over and over again" instead of "over the rainbow again" indicated that it is make no sense. So, it's hard for the singer to see the rainbow. If previously "Sentimental Street" have more lines that make not all lines included here, in "Over and Over Again", it just have a line that the correct lyrics is "over and over again". Now, I know who singing this song was Robby and maybe next time I try to searching this song into my playlist. About this song: Introducing, Robby was born Robert Kempe in the Netherlands (the hometown of Golden Earring). Musically, if Golden Earring was hard rock and pop rock, Robby was hard rock, pop rock, soft rock, and AOR, that it is compared to Jimmy Harnen from outside the Netherlands. His debut single was "Over and Over Again", released in 1991. It reaching #6 on the Netherlands chart for 10 weeks. "Over and Over Again" is track #6 on his debut studio album released in 1992. So, it's true that Robby was sounding like Jimmy Harnen but "Over and Over Again" was just entering the Netherlands chart and did not entering the Top 20 of Billboard's Pop Chart although the album that featuring this song itself were released internationally. But, congrats for Robby for entering his name into national fame. Thanks. - Submitted by: Wisnu Aji
