Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

But oh, oh. All you see, she's allowed to know, my friend
But oh, oh your city lies in dust, my friend.
The Story: Heard this song in 2024 while at Floyd's when the chorus was drilled into my head as "all you see, she's allowed to know, my friend" - Submitted by: DJ Cornell
Playing Russian Roulette for the lucky click.
Playing Russian Roulette or the lucky dip.
The Story: 'Dazzle' is a song about suicide/death so I figured that it made sense for the words 'lucky dip' to be 'for the lucky click' as in put a gun to your head and shoot (which would be the lucky click), which you would play Russian Roulette in order to get the lucky click. (Editor's note: Yeah, right!) - Submitted by: Danielle

Peek-A-Boo
The Story: Actually it wasn`t me who misheard this lyric (at first) I work at a school and we were having an 'old music' day, and I brought a tape in with lots of 80s music on it, including 'Peek-A-Boo' by the Banshees. After it had been on a bit and the chorus came on half the kids started singing 'Piiiiikachuuu! Piiiiiikachuuuuu!', which did make me laugh I must admit. - Submitted by: Richard Leach

The bitter and the sweet
The Story: I misheard this lyric when I was listening to Music Choice's Sounds of the Seasons around Halloween. It sounded like, "victor," and, "slave," because of the English accent, which sounds like they break the word, "bitter," into sylables, which is pronounced, "bit-ter," and, "sweet," sounds like, "slave." They pronounce, "sweet," by making the E sound like an A, (which sounds like, "slave," or, "swate." I then read the lyrics and found out the real pronunciation. - Submitted by: Dustin Aurand

The Story: It sounded like they mentioned two British bands since this one's British, too! - Submitted by: Cody Finke
