Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Shake it to the right.
The Story: Basically, I was a huge of the Spice Girls (I was only ten at the the time, okay?) and kept listening to this song. My brother, who was in the room one time when I was actually singing to the song, heard me sing the wrong words. He sure laughed his head off. He corrected me, but I still sang my own little version! - Submitted by: Chris
Slice up your eyes
Spice up your life
The Story: My brother and I were sitting watching TV one day and we were channel flicking and on came Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice so we kept it on that channel for some reason. So then the Spice Girls started singing the chorus of their song and I started to laugh because I thought it was saying Slice up your eyes, which is what I wanted to do after seeing the music video. My brother asked me why I was laughing and I told him and managed to convince him they were actually saying that. So we sung along for a bit hehe until when at the end of the video it said Spice Girls Spice Up Your Life and we both laughed even harder haha. - Submitted by: Timi Zhuo
Tranquil spaceman and all that's in between
Tribal spaceman and all that's in between
The Story: I was wondering what a peaceful astronaut had to do with all the other people in the song (e.g. yellow man in Timbuktu, dancing queen), but still, "tranquil spaceman" sounds good - Submitted by: Oliver Klozoff

Somebody tell me why the wine is all around.
Slam your body down and wind it all around.
The Story: I was SO sure that was what they said all my life. I just found out like 2 minutes ago and I'm so embarrased of myself >_
Sully Bunny down and lions all around
Slam your body down and wind it all around
The Story: When I was in early elementary school, I had two big obsessions: rabbits and The Lion King. I spent a lot of my time thinking about either of them. So when I was in 2nd grade and "Wannabe" was a big hit, I was ecstatic to find that the Spice Girls mentioned both of the things I loved in the same line! (I didn't know why they named the rabbit, but if there was Peter Rabbit and Peter Cottontail, why not Sully Bunny?) I thought this was right for years, so needless to say, I was disappointed when I found out what they were really singing. - Submitted by: Cat
That s*** never ends
Friendship never ends

What's driving you is a vision of bedding
What's driving you is ambition and betting
The Story: Well it still makes sense the way I heard it, it just means the guy they're singing about is driven by visions of bedding, therefore wants to get the Spicies in bed. - Submitted by: esss
