Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

And the fingers are pumpin'.
And the Vegas are pumpin'.
The Story: I was singing it one day and my little brother heard me and said, 'What are you saying, fingers are pumping?' So then he corrected me. I, feeling quite stupid, said, 'What the heck is a Vega anyway!?' - Submitted by: Darla
Ass ass baby

To the extreme I rock a mic like a van duel,
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a can duel..
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle.
The Story: When the song first came out, I didn't realize that Vanilla Ice was trying to affect a particular type of accent, so I was hearing lyrics as they sounded phonetically to me, not as he was intending them to sound. Oops! - Submitted by: Glenn
Yo, me, I see
Yo, VIP
The Story: I kept on thinking about it when I listened to "Suddenly I See" by KT Tunstall, when I thought I heard "VIP" and "VIC", and that came to this song. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
Ice, Ice, baby
Tickle, tickle
Ice, Ice, baby
Too cold, too cold
The Story: Karaoke. The one Satanic thing that shall embarrass us all. Yes, at a party I was coaxed into rocking a mic like a vandal. They picked that damn song, not me. So I got through all the lyrics. Let me tell you, I was cookin MCs like a pound of bacon. But then that damn ending came on. I was all into it, screaming 'ICE ICE BABY, TICKLE, TICKLE!', when some loser shouts 'What are you saying?!' So I stop. 'Ice Ice baby, tickle tickle.' I reply, as if I am confident those are the actual lyrics. The whole room starts cracking up. And I'm up there with the music from Under Pressure (NO I do not refer to that riff as Vanilla Ice's work) starting to fade with a clueless expression. This goes on for about an hour or so. (Not really. That's just what it felt like.) Some person yells 'It's TOO COLD! ICE ICE BABY TOO COLD!!' I'm told my face turned bright red. Oh yeah, and I fell down the stairs on the way back. I am the coolest person ever. - Submitted by: Kerri

To go
Ice, Ice, Baby
Too cold
The Story: This was sung by my (then) 3-year-old niece as we were on a road trip... I think her parents took her to Taco Bell one too many times! - Submitted by: CPryor
