Song lyrics aren't supposed to be a fountain of perfect english, but on the other hand some are just so
atrocious, they need to get called out. We're not looking for sentance fragments or the word ain't since there are too many instances to count.

Perfecter is a word. But it means "One who perfects something". In this context, it would be "more perfect" .

In informal English was is often used in place of were and it is acceptable (I guess). But we is plural so it SHOULD be were. Even in informal English.
