To the gal I'm gonna marry
Refers to Tucumcari, a town in the eastern part of the U.S. State of New Mexico. Although a town of only about 6000 people, it is a place well known for its size. Not only is it the largest town in a good portion of northeast New Mexico, it is a major stop between Amarillo, Texas and Albuquerque, New Mexico, probably the largest town located a substantial part of the distance form one of those cities to the other. The major higwhay today connecting those cities by way of Tucumcari is Interstate 40. The western part of Interstate 40, including this stretch, was historically part of the corridor of the legendary US 66.
