Parody Song Title:

"We Sold Out"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

We m-m-made it
We got rich really fast
But we lost all our cash
And so, we traded
All of our pride away
Now our songs are lame top 40 pop
We need the cash so we can't stop
Now we're hated

Why, why did we do
Yeah, all of those crappy songs since '92
Oh yeah, we sold out
It's really not that hard to do

They p-p-paid it
A great big chunk of dough
For this big halftime show
That's why, we played it
We got the cash we wanted
But we had to sing a song with 'N Sync
Our former fanbase says that we stink
We betrayed it

Why, why did we do
Yeah, all of those crappy songs since '92
Oh yeah, we sold out
If you were me, you'd sell out too

Look at this crap we created
Our songs are painful to hear
And we're so overrated
We're so dated, antiquated
We've been degraded

We've f-f-faded
It has been way too long
Since we had a good song, you see
We sacrficed our dignity
Hey, who needs credibility?

Why, why did we do
Yeah, all of those crappy songs since '92
Yeah, you know that every song since "Janie" blew
Oh yeah, we sold out
(Sellouts) Sold out
(Sellouts) We sold out
You know we're sellouts through and through

/the song's funny---but i hope youre not saying aerosmith turned into sellouts cuz theyve always r ocked and rocked hard even though their earlier stuff was better

I agree with incessant psycho. Aerosmith's older stuff might've been better, but they are definantly no sellouts. They can't help it that mainstream media got ahold of their music and liked it.

Although I liked your parody, I'm going to have to disagree with you. They didn't sell out. They changed their sound around because they wanted to, and wanted to try something different. Steven grew up around blues music and just decided that was the next sound he wanted to go for. That's why most of the stuff on "Get A Grip" and albums after that, were a little different sounding. So, they wanted to expriment with a different type of music. That makes them sellouts? They played half-time and things like that because they want to make their fans happy, because they get a chance to see them more often than usual. So, if a band cares about their fans, that makes them a sellout? I think not. If anything, Aerosmith has stayed more true to themselves than any band of their time. FYI, they were making tons of money in the 70's and early 80's too, but, they spent it all on drugs. So, if a band quits doing drugs and decides to use their money for something more useful, that makes them sellouts? And don't give me any of that, "Well, they also have their own Guitar Hero game, so they've definantly sold out." Well, Metallica has their own Guitar Hero game too. Does that mean Metallica has sold out, too? You've got it all wrong. If you want to see a band who REALLY sold out, check out Green Day. Like Syd said, if mainstream media likes their music, then their going to like their music. Do you think they're just going to plain drop out of the music scene because of that? When music is the only thing they've ever wanted to do with their lives? Fat chance. If they had done that, then they would be quitters...and that's worse than being a sellout.
