The Lyrics

One of Enya's best known songs. I've used my favorite version from the original 'Celtic Woman'' line-up's sensational debut concert in Dublin. To view, go here.
SEE MY INBOX OVERFLOW (MAIL TODAY)

More junk mail, more junk mail, let the ether garbage flow
Let me screech at this breach, on the scores of trickery
Let them fail, and derail, they e-bash on my e-door
They can't reach, they just leech, bank ID they wanna see

De de, de-lete
De de, de-lete
De-lete

Mail today, mail today, mail today
Go away, go away, go away
Seek to cheat, trip your feet, system beat
Click delete, click delete, click delete

All that spam makes me damn, as we wade in foul mammon
Off'ring me lunch for free, all the wiles of usury
Stranger who claims knows you, disempower that babble-con
Escapee has to be far beneath the Coral Sea

De, de-lete
De, de-lete
De, de-lete

Nought to say, nought to say, nought to say
Go away, go away, go away
Seek to cheat, and unseat, reap your wheat
Click delete, click delete, click delete

From the north to the south, bounce off artificial moon
From the east to the west, any server opportune
Carried free on the waves of newfound technology
By some geek in batcaves of e-criminology
Sending mail, sending mail, watch your inbox overflow
On your trail, bite your tail (here to stay, everyday)

We can steer, stay well clear with our passwords under seal
Don't reply, say goodbye - all your friends and privacy
Face the gale, make it fail (flail away, mail today? bail in-tray)
Out of reach, nasty creach, sinister chicanery
Do not hail, spammer nail (mailer flay, it's OK, it's child's play)

From Joe Blow in Togo in some internet cafe
Make him fail, land in jail, (mail away, fail away, jail to stay)
Post no bail, make him wail (wail away, jail to stay, never stray)

Make him pay, make him stay, cell all day
Lay on hay, rue the day, mail this way

LL, you're not going to believe this, but I just inherited $5 million dollars. Alas, I don't have access to it. But if you send me your savings account number, I can assure you I will deposit $555 thousand dollars in your account just for allowing me to move my money.
Don't believe me? Well, I can honestly say there's this bridge in Brooklyn that my uncle gave to me, and if you act now...

Ah, yes...but like the vintage Steve Martin movie, "The Lonely Guy" when you're a lonely guy, junk mail is better than no mail at all..

Thanks, guys; it needed a little more polish here and there. If I were writing for performance I would go for more repetition.
@ OMR: CW were one of the musical highlights of the 00s for me, especially the first two concert DVDs. There's plenty to sample out there on the tube, even their whole Blane Castle concert featuring acclaimed young NZ phenomenon Hayley Westenra. It might not stay up for long so enjoy while you can. Though they dabble in Celtic themes and sometimes sing in Gaelic, their genre is more accurately described as light classical, with a sprinkling of Irish evergreens. They also have a brilliant conductor/arranger in David Downes.
@ Warren B: good way to immunize your bank account in my exp.: empty it!
@ AFW: I'm not quite that bad - yet, lol

Correction, Ribber - that should be 'Slane Castle' not 'Blane' - the collection is called 'New Journey'

This is an excellently crafted and very funny song parody. You honored and reinvented Enya's masterpiece at the same time.
