The Lyrics

Remember when I was ten
Stephen King's "It" I was watching
The next day a clown arrived
So I socked him to save my life!
He said, "You hurt my nose!"
He began to cry, won't fall for that though
My mom said I'm out of line
At least he can't eat me at dinner time

Make up, is never quite right
Their clothes are freaky, such an eerie sight
Scared that it will come for me
So I'll never forget
What my eyes have seen
At my parties clowns are all banned
I won't be on their dinner plans
That big red nose I will pop
Hope he don't find me and eat me up

That big nose, it's red and round
Must be from dead kids he's found
And so I'm running from the creepy clowns
I hope he doesn't come again
Please clown go back to the underground
and do not shock me with electric hands

Shoes are big by their design
To make all parents think they're friends of mine
That flower's really a cup
He'll poison me to shut me up
His grin is big as can be
May fool adults but won't fool me
That monster tricks and deceives
but if he's a killer, he'll soon kill me

He said boy could you sit down
Asked why I am scared of clowns
So I showed what Stephen King found
He said that it was just fiction
Then he dazzled me with funny sounds
So I think that I fin'lly understand
I guess the clown's not such an evil man

My mom left and his grin had went
Then his whole body bent
Then he chased me through some vents
Ooh-no
I will find a way to beat this clown
It's about then my day began
I was dreaming 'bout a lair I found
I hope I never see a clown again
I hope I never see a clown again

"IT" turned both my brothers off clowns for life. Scary stuff - especially at a tender young age! Nice job!

"It" was IT...for scary movie clowns! Well done, Dave.

One issue I have with this one is that you stole Conqueror's idea... I mean his is about being scared of clowns and yours is about being scared of clowns. Yours is technically funnier and better I still am caught in a weird spot because Conqueror had the idea first.

I have never read conquerors nor do I even know what song he parodied, so I take personal offense at what you just said PLUS mine is specifically about the clown IT from Stephen King, not clowns in general, read my parody before you make such statements

I did read your parody which is why I said yours is funnier and better but both of you guys did parodies about generally the same topic as you'll find out when you read T-Cop's.

I agree with Mark's comment. Surprised that you didn't fit coulrophobia in there somewhere. Saw the title & thought it was going to be about John Wayne Gacy (The Killer Clown)

I should also do a clown parody and have it be about The Joker.

DKTOS, don't read S. King, but I trust the others on the pacing, and this is well-crafted regardless. Full Fives, and sorry you missed your TT plug today.

As far as multiple writers on one idea: Happens all the time. As my former radio producer told me when I told him that one of his gags published in the morning was used by Jay Leno that night, "Some gags are just 'out there'"... meaning, some concepts just suggest themselves to many people. (How many "Born Free/Porn Free" switches are there?) So long as yours is completely original, with your own lyrics and gags, that's 100% A-OK -- even if you *have* read the other. I usually toss a nod to the first writer if I *have* read theirs before doing my own twist, but if you say you hadn't seen it (hey, only 67,000 songs on the site, Dave, haven't you read and memorized them *all*? LOL) .. I believe you.

I HATE clowns with a passion (is clownaphobia a medical condition?) but this was a lot of fun. As for the "idea stealing" issue...I'm with TT. I've been berated once or twice (and even by the great Spaff) for supposedly stealing ideas...I always try to check, but if a similarly themed parody is set to a different OS, you've got no chance of finding it. And ideas can't be owned; as long as the parody is all your own work, you can write about whatever you want. 555
