The Lyrics

Moving to Sony spoiled the whole concept of Cypress Hill. This is story about it.
We're sold!

I met him at the club, my friends liked him but I didn't.
I noticed a lot of Sony people giving up their phone digits.
I didn't want to be one of those ho's whose deals are
exploiting their band from head to toes. He had glossy lips,
he was writing his checks near the dance floor and every n*****s
flashing the grips trying to impress him in vain,
he gave no play, n****s tend to offer demo's and he said no way.

I thought to myself let it go that Sony guy on beat,
but like Smoky said he really had a hold on me.
I couldn't stop staring I started to calculate the fact
how my paycheck's at Sony is gonna get really fat.
Even if I moved to the other side of the party I had pictures in my
head of signing with him and it felt smart, then.
We hadn't had a hit since "Insane in the Brain"
but he slowly walked over and asked my name

What's your name? What chart number?
I would like to get to sign you,
Can we have a conversation?
The night is young, bro
Give me a chance

I gave a smile but he got no answer though it took a while
before I could gave a chance I sat too cool. He offered his
card and I turned him down flat I said "If you want to sign me
you gotta do better than that." He said, "Okay, now your ships
bout to sink - am I gonna walk away, or will I buy you a drink?"
As he began to walk away I said "I'm sorry for reals, but every
guy in the club tries give me bad deals, I don't trust that each
and everyone would lie to you" He said "I understand but that's
not what I tried to do, I wasn't even gonna go to your table but
if I didn't, I knew that I'd regret it later. We at Sony go after what we
want but we got class. No need to sign a band that makes trash."
He gave me a funny look, I couldn't tell what it meant. He let
his guards go and on the conversation went

What's your name? What chart number?
I would like to get to sign you,
Can we have a conversation?
The night is young, bro
Give me a chance

He said I want a band with the plan and ambition not
immature n****s on a weed legalizing mission. We're too good for that,
and we have so much to offer. And he pulled out his pen and a deal he offerd.
"You got goals?" that's what he asked, "Yeah, I want to fill my home
with platinum plaques. It takes hard work but you know it's coming after."
He said "Oh My God! You must be a former famous rapper".
"I do alright, but I'm never satisfied. I'm told
making songs about weed is getting kinda old.
I strive for more but that's enough about me.
Why don't we skip out the club, take a walk on the street?"
I slipped outta the club with no worries, seemed
he also wanted to get out in a hurry.
We hung all night, and we lost our friends...'til
they found us signing the deal in the back of a Benz.
