The Lyrics

Hadn't written anything in a while, so I decided to re-sharpen the ol' parody skills with this one. Admittedly in need of some tuning, but I like what I got out of it. Oh, and note that the chorus is sung with a slightly different rythem than the original song in this version. So if it seems awkward to sing, that's why.
You think that you’re
Gonna give up the ghost
You know that you’re lonely
You have less friends than most
You need a good clique where you’ll fit in
But you don’t know where you should begin
And your options are running low

You tried bein’ a stoner
And you tried going clean
You hated the gothics
And you failed at the ‘Scene’.
There’s only one thing that’s left for you
You’ll join in the sliced and diced up crew
So start your poetry right now.

Cause you’re an emo today
You’ve got on all black
Your parents have said
That you’re on the wrong track
All authority sucks
And you don’t know why
Go out in the sun
And your pale skin’d fry
You’re emo today
You cry in the rain
Your writings all start
With the line “Life is Pain”
You’re emo today
You’re emo today

No matter what you have tried to say
Your parents are creeped out anyway
And you just hate them even more

Cause you’re emo today
You’re wearing tight pants
You’re listening to My Chemical Romance
It’s all lowercase
When you are online
You abbreviate words
Such as ‘You’, ‘Are’, and ‘Why’
You’re emo today
Your wrists have been worn
Your sexual fetish
Is Vampire porn
You’re emo today

Sometimes you just can’t take this life
So guess what, all your blood is gone.
Hell you might even be cutting it up
Because you’re sad over this song
And that’s just wrong.

All of your buddies
Cut themselves up as well
You don’t even care
That you’re goin’ to hell.

Cause you’re emo today
And you could just die
A bunch of your bangs
Flipped in front of your eye
When asked to cheer up
You let out a sigh
Your sexual o-
-rientation is Bi.
You’re emo today
Your poetry’s droll
Hey, how does it feel
To have no soul?
You’re emo today
You’re emo today.

I liked this alot, Chris...excellent observational satire here. Not alot wrong here...but be careful to keep the tone of the parody the same all the way through...you occasionally moved from satirical to opinionated (You don’t even care/ That you’re goin’ to hell.) Other than that, brilliant stuff, and the first verse was a killer. 555

What Kristof wrote, plus "You abbreviate word such as ‘You’, ‘Are’, and ‘Why’" was excellent. 555
