The Lyrics

This song salutes the Detroit Pistons, and their defense-minded roster: Ben and Rasheed Wallace (no relation), Chauncey Billups, Tayshaun Prince, and Coach Larry Brown. And give Joe Dumars props for assembling this Detroit championship team, the first since 1990.
The Pistons' defense is why they're in the Finals now
The Lakers think that they can find out a way to win somehow
Even if they could, it will never be too easy for them now
Cause the Pistons, they will bring the D, they'll bring the D

The Lakers lose Game One, and then they would win the second game
Detroit's gonna give them hell tonight, and put L.A. to shame
Even Larry Brown feels good now, with his latest claim to fame
Because Detroit's gonna win three more, they'll win three more

And I want to thank them, for killing the Lakers' dynasty
And oh, cause the Pistons won, they're everybody's favorite team

The buzzer sounds, we're champs at last, a night of ecstasy
The coach can hold the trophy now, and Chauncey's the MVP
Even Rasheed's being cool now, and Big Ben's led the D
To a big upset of L.A.

And I want to thank them, for killing the Lakers' dynasty
And oh, cause the Pistons won, they're everybody's favorite team

And I want to thank them, for killing the Lakers' dynasty
And oh, cause the Pistons won, they're everybody's favorite team

You're right. Sorry, Rip! I remember the starting five well: Billups and Hamilton at guard, Prince and Rasheed Wallace at forward, and Ben Wallace at center. Coming off the bench: Lindsey Hunter, Corliss Williamson and Mehmet Okur. And the head coach: Larry Brown. Thanks for the heads-up.
