Let me get this straight: The Royals are owned by David Glass, a member of the Walton family of Wal-Mart infamy... and he can't give his players a payroll over $30 million? That's tantamount to losing on purpose. Men used to get banned from baseball for that. That grinding sound you hear coming from the Great Plains is Ewing Kauffman turning over in his grave. On the other hand, Cardinal fans, still steaming over the way the 1985 World Series ended, would not want to trade places with Royals fans any time after that. So maybe they should give Don Denkinger a break.
