The Lyrics

Oops, slight corrections.
Ooooh

Running Running
From my new concoction
Yeaaaah
Ducking Ducking
Blowing up the jars
Yeah Yeah
I took nineteen pounds of fresh Cal-Hypo
oooooo
What will it do?
How far will it blow?
Hope it's far!

When you mix, TWO, chemicals it's thrilling
'til you wreck the ceiling I (I've gone Mad Dude)
My last one almost made the news (I've gone Mad Dude)
First, turned BLUE
Next thing it was bubbling
Rapidly combusting and (I've gone Mad Dude)
My gloves, I had melted them too
So I think that was a clue

I mixed some salt with a multi-colored paint set
Lordy Lordy
Hit me and I dropped cold
I cried out sickly as I lay in the hostpitaaaaal
Oh yes it's serious!
The doctor's furious!
'Cause my left leg is gone
Yet still I carry on

Now I mix, TWO, chemicals together
Don't matter what weather oh (I've gone Mad Dude)
My nose has just turned teal blue (I've gone Mad Dude)
I hurts, to CHEW!
Don't wanna be a felon,
My neighbors are yellin' and (I've gone Mad Dude)
My mug shot was on channel two
'Cause my hobby broke the rules

I like to mix compounds it's true, yeah
The cops said I'm breaking the rules (ruuuuules)
I'll still make a vile or two

Some Sulphate

and Nitrate

High Phosphates

Now Citrate

Red, ZOOM, cyanide was flying
Through the air outside and now
I'm out of my mind, I'm a kook (I'm a Mad Dude)
If you, smell FUMES
You had best be runnin'
I don't know what's comin' and (I'm a Mad Dude)
My potions made frogs start to moo
So lately I'm not in the mood

My potions made frogs start to moo
So lately I'm not in the mood

Dude, I mix two chemicals
Can't you see it's fun to me
Woh

Dude I mix two chemicals (yeah)
Can't you see it's fun to me
Woh

I'm a mad dude
Had to resubmit, missed a slight thing in there

Pretty crazy hobby and a pretty crazy parody. I love the original song by the way!!! I also loved, "My potions made frogs start to moo", and "I mixed some salt with a multi-colored paint set" just because they were so RANDOM! Looks like a really hard song to pull off and you did a bang up job with it.

(Dec 2.0) After listening to the OS, I realized that I had heard it before! And it is AWESOME! SO awesome, in fact, that you MUST record this. 555 new chemicals for you!

I assure you both, this one WILL be recorded, I have to find a backing track. . .I had fun with this parody, the OS (I am actually surprised my parodies were number 0 and 1 for Jamiroquai) is among my favorites, and me with bad habits, I have so many. . . I figured mixing chemicals would be a much better bad habit then most people's typical bad habits. I'm glad you guys enjoy it too. I'll have to parody Jamiroquai more often, he needs more representation.

(Dec2) Stretches the topic of "Bad Habits" to a breaking point for me (more of a Halloween theme?), but this was pretty good...sure did seem hard to write.
Below Average Dave (badave.com) - December 20, 2007 - Report this comment
I would say that it is not a typical bad habit, but I would have to also go further to say that I don't quite understand how it fits Halloween or see how it stretches Bad Habits, but I respect your opinion. . .I would say this would be among the worst habits a person can have. . .and it was hard to write, I am the first to target this song too.

(dec2.6) what with the melting gloves, the injured leg and everything, I'd be screaming "Lordy Lordy" too Dave - this is a nice companion piece for your Nov SOTM entry, where you follow up these activities with a visit to THAT doctor - lol - 555
Kristof Robertson - January 02, 2008 - Report this comment
(DEC 2.6) Although I thought this was very well written, and chucklesome, Dave...I kind of agree with Ag that it doesn't quite fit the "Bad Habits" topic area....but hey; that's just my opinion (which you are totally free to ignore, mate!) Still, a worthy 555

I dunno, I kind of think that mixing the wrong chemicals together could be a bad habit... though putting them in a "vile"? (It's so much easier proof-reading other people's stuff ;-) )... all I would say is that mixing sulphate, nitrate, phosphates and citrate would only give you a solution of the above - you'd not get much of a reaction. Now if you'd gone for sulphuric and nitric acids with glycerine...

Decathlon...for some reason I kept thinking of a meth lab as I was reading this. Hee hee. Talk about a bad habit. Anyway...I think there was a good reason that I didn't ever sign up for Chemistry in High School...it would have been a disaster waiting to happen! =)

Well, this was different, both the OS and the subject. Had a certain chemistry to it though.

PHIL ALEXANDER, Phil, thank you for your suggestion on Sulphuric, Nitric and Glycerine, I've replaced "Sulphate, Nitrate, Phosphates and Citrate" with those chemicals for tomorrows LIVE performance of it on Vocalo.org

:-) Hope it goes with a bang, Dave.

This was a really fun parody! Unfortunately the education might soon sink in and ruin everything... I'll score you 555 while I still have the chance.

Thou art now dubbed "Sir Mixalot". Amatuer chemistry is like playing Russian Roulette with a vile and a bunson burner. Best be careful because next time "You'll shoot your eye out, kid". Too bad you can't sue for damages for that lost limb. You wouldn't have a leg to stand on in court. Fun read - explosive dynamics.
Timmy1000 - July 26, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC) The parody flowed really well while listening to OS as pacing was excellent; well written theme from beginning to end.
Andria - July 26, 2009 - Report this comment
Great job, Dave, and I know if you mix ammonia and liquid bleach you get poison gas, that you get napalm when you mix gasolene and soap, a bomb results from fertilizer and diesel, and an explosive reaction results when an acid and an alkali are mixed, as with vinegar and baking soda or sulphuric acid and lye. The magnitude of this highly explosive parody ranks 5.55 on the Richter scale.

ABC5(M)...This made me hark back to when I was a teenager working at a grocery store and one of the employees cleared out the store by mixing two chemicals...Great concept and execution!!!...555!!!

I remember this one vividly because the original song is so catchy it's become one of your best recordings to date, and all thanks to me and my competition! Yay!

(ABC5) See above! Still awesome!
Red Ant - August 20, 2009 - Report this comment
Could have sworn I commented before - maybe that was on the original or the recording. Anyway, great to revisit this one - as someone who has tinkered in chemistry, I can appreciate the humor here. One note: it's "vial", not "vile". 2 + 2 = 5s here (synergistic reaction)
