The Lyrics

This is what happens when college musicians compete instead of collaborating. A cappella groups, take notice! Grammar errors (like Mraz's) are intentional - use Gollum's voice in those areas for additional fun.Regarding the German Beethoven overlay, one of the two arrangers in the story actually did this for real! (At least he only used the melody, not the words.)It's not necessary to do so, however, the effect (including making the Beethoven thing less creepy, but more twisted) works best when the song is played in the relative minor, up a half step.
PRE-VERSE (based on live version)
No, no, no... rather, oh, oh, oh.
Put them both together, you get... d'oh, d'oh, d'oh!

VERSE 1:
Well I was thinkin', in a free way,
when I closed my eyes and started seein' bygone days
when you were singin' your praise to the Lord - of the Rings -
and dreamin' 'bout your latest new flings.
The jokes that you were makin', positions you were takin' -
Your hands, they were a-quakin' - or, just maybe, you were fakin'.
Are you sure you didn't pay for these?
Well, if you wants derangement, I gots the parody.

PRE-CHORUS
The parody is quite delirious.
There is another song it's based on,
And it's a comedy that's somewhat serious.
In fact, it's just a large scale play on words.
If there's a tragedy, it's only that you won't
Give credit to those who deserve it.
There was a time when we were good friends,
But I see you fought it to the bitter end.

CHORUS
Go... get down on your knees and pray... (nay, no)
Go... or else you will have to pay... (nay, no)

(2nd time, to BRIDGE)

VERSE 2.
So there were two who heard it on the radio,
and each one then thought that he'd put on a good show.
Pre-emptively arrangin' it, without lookin' back,
They just waited out the days 'til the semester, when their deal would
crack - what a pain - entirely rotted their brains.
Now they're fightin', and maulin', and diggin', and crawlin'
Into their caves - please behave!
For their rival arrangements, well, baby, here's your parody!

(to PRE-CHORUS) - at "If there's a tragedy", overlay:
We been livin' most our lives,
livin' in a gangsta's paradise

BRIDGE
They fell out of love, stuck in a bind.
They're lookin' to graduate, then see what they can find.
Never partners, now foes, each one fell out of line.
We're hearing them whine, although...
(The parody is quite delirious, etc.)

Try BRIDGE overlay:
Freude, schöner Götterfunken
Tochter aus Elysium,
Wir betreten feuer-trunken,
Himmlische, dein Heiligtum!

PRE-CHORUS (same words)

FINAL CHORUS (same words) - ends (compare with live version):
Oh, pa-ro-day.

The "pre-chorus" was great, but I don't understand anything else about yer song. Nota bene: private jokes usually aren't very entertaining to those outside of the joke circle.
