If you aren't familiar with the story behind this little fiasco, ASCAP a music protection site has brought to the attention of local parodist Below Average Dave that the song parody recordings on his site violate the rites of the artists they they represent (Katy Perry for example). While we all know that song parody recordings fall under the fair use doctrine they don't seem to realize that and thus www.badave.com has been shut down for the time being all because ASCAP (Ass-Crap) doesn't know about that court case with 2 Live Crew and thus we have been screwed...

One slight slap for using a line from my parody (day music died) but other than that well written, and overall funny. The FUMP is behind me 100% on this, and they are preparing in case ASCAP asks them for money next, I just hope ASCAP doesn't try to make me pay for a license because my site had music on it--since I did take it all down.

Yeah, when I channel Don McLean randomly in my head, I mean, American Pie really came to mind over what they are doing (Ironically, Don McLean is ALSO an ASCAP artist) so yeah, I can understand why, that line was perfect for the situation, which is where it hit me
