This one is for Peter Anderson's One Week Notice challenge (Week 46) this time hosted once again by Matthias! - Background = Recently “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn was fired because very offensive tweets from the past were discovered with jokes about pedophilia, AIDs and rape. Obviously, Disney is a family first company and this kind of thing is bad news for everybody involved. There has been a lot of backlash from Marvel fanboys and girls out there because we have no idea what “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is going to be like now that James is gone. Here’s what I think that the Disney PR Team is singing to themselves during this whole process…

Being so late to the news of this, and not quite understanding the full extant of it--combined with my apathetic awareness of the GotG franchise (ie., enjoying the movies but barely knowing the names of the characters, let alone fully understanding its overall arc--) (inhale breath)...this was a respectfully fine parody, but not one that I can enjoy to its fullest. You know what you are talking about, that much is clear. 555
Well, I saw this in the news somewhere over here the other day, and it said that someone had dug up old offensive tweets of his from ten years ago - and all I could think was "Twitter existed ten years ago???".
Next day posting: I get the Bautista line now because I saw in the news that the actor who plays Drax has come to Gunn's defence. I like movies, but not on your level (do you really write one movie review a week?), hence I'm passing the parody idea that came to mind over for your consideration; "Drax just wanna have Gunn" to Cindy Lauper's "Girls just wanna have fun". Also I hate writing the last chorus/outro for that song. :-P
Peter: I do! It’s part of my 52 Weeks of movies where I see a new movie IN THE THEATER and review it for my blog. I’ve seen 2 this past week because I was running a week behind. I just saw “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” and “Sorry to Bother You”. I’m actually on week 29/52 so I’m pretty sure I can pull it off this time. I tried to do it last year but I couldn’t keep up the pace.
I know we have no clue how Guardians (or several other Marvel Cinematric Movies) is going to be affected, but I don't feel the least bit sorry for the dude. He's in the public eye and when you are in the public eye--well. I mean Marvel is also very open minded. This was a disgrace towards both the inclusive history of the comics the films he was working on represents and the inclusive strides Disney has made over the years. They did the right thing. 555
Dave: It’s not like he wrote this stuff recently though it was 10 years ago! He was hired & directed 2 Marvel movies since he wrote this stuff. I blame Disney for not finding this out sooner.
Fair enough. And I'm firmly in the park of people CAN change. I've never believed the bull where people say "once a [insert something negative] always a [insert something negative]" . . . The article I read on it did NOT make it clear that it was ten years ago, hence why I don't really read the news (and no this isn't related to Trump's fake news crap--news has been nothing more than entertainment for far longer than you or I have been alive. Mass hysteria meant to keep us from complaining about the powers that be, the internet has been chipping away at the protective barrier news once provided--I couldn't be happier. But it's funny Trump spouts Fake News about CNN, NBC, ABC etc when the one he watches (Fox) is the fakest of them all. But that's a rant unrelated to this article, I hate both the major political parties--it's why you rarely see me tip my toe in politics, cause I don't have much nice to say about most politicians. . .)
