The Lyrics

If any of you have ever had a teenager drive you nuts, you can probably relate to this. As some of you know, Silver Power and I had a lengthy dispute over a song I had written titled "Hey, There Delilah" with OS of same name. It was about a radio show host named Delilah. Silver Power is 16 years old, and I am, well, let's just say I'm a good bit older than that. No need to bore you with the gory details, suffice to say it was ugly at times and an unfortunate event that I do regret. The good news is we have come to an understanding that we are too much alike to ever give an inch and ended our silly squabble. This parody was written the day before we resolved our dispute, so keep that in mind when reading it. I should point out that I've come to discover that SP is pretty darn mature for his age. And contrary to what is written here, he does have the capacity to judge good parody work. So on we go. This is submitted with his permission.
Hey Silver Power

Hey Silver Power
Didn’t really wanna do this
But you keep on turnin' up
I think it's time that I review this
But for me
It’s not revenge but just a plea
It’s therapy

Hey Silver Power
Don’t you worry about my schemin’
Just a way to clean my brain out
Have to exorcise this demon
From my mind
That song was harmless yet so maligned
But you were blind

Yo, it’s what you said to me
So, it’s everything you see
Won't, resolve so easily
No, I never will agree
Not impressing me

Hey Silver Power
I know that you’re young and all
But just believe me boy
Someday you’ll see that you don’t know it all
Oh callow youth
Your accusation was uncouth
I speak the truth

Hey Silver Power
I've got so much left to say
It would be unwise just to plagiarize
Did not mean it that way
But it’s been done
Writing songs and trying to have fun
But I won't run

So, I laugh maniac’ly
Bro, I shake my head at thee
Oh, too young to plainly see
Go, and watch some MTV

On facts at hand the truth is based
Don’t make decisions with such haste
Your words you have to sometimes carefully weigh
My friends will all make fun of you
And I’ll just laugh along it’s true, I know
That all of them have felt this way
Silver dude will you be through
By the time you’re twenty-two?
Or will you never ever bear some blame?
Oh what a shame

Hey Silver Power
You be good and don't you diss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
Will you be making history when it's through?
Will you write parodies so true?
I finished this in two-point-two
That’s hours not days I'm telling you
This one's for you

Yo, I think that just for me
Bro, you’re much too young to be
Oh, critiquing parodies
So, should be adults only
Oh well that’s just me

Oh oh woe oh
Woe is me oh oh
Oh no woe you just don’t know
Oh when will you grow
Oh no oh oh
A final word: Stay away from this OS. It contains some kind of curse and will bring you nothing but sorrow and woe. Plus I don't want to hear it again. :-) My best to all. ~blackjack21~

Good parody about that huge argument. I have to give it 555. Hope that no more strife comes out of you guys.

Dude, wtf?

Nah, just kidding, I liked it, especially the "Go, and watch some MTV".

However, I still disagree with that critiquing parodies should be left to adults, because kids often tell it like it is, and don't mince words, as some adults tend to, which isn't a bad thing.

Anyway, I think this was much better written compared to the parody that started this whole thing, so good job. 555, of course.

N00b question: what does "XAD" mean?
Arwen - June 22, 2009 - Report this comment
Not super funny to me, but pacing was less of a problem for me on this one, and I noticed that internal rhyme was followed as well...which always pleases me. Not that you did it for me...but...you know. =) Nice to see the hatchet be so effectively buried.

DJ Blaze: Thank you, no more strife. XAD is an inside joke, something that came up during the strife. It looks like a laughing face with a weird nose.

Arwen: Thank you.

Silver Power: Thanks dude. The MTV line was one of my faves too, along with "You be good and don't you diss me." Go back and read the top comments and you'll see a different aswer about judging parodies.

I'm kinda late to the party, but congrats on your truce with Silver Power! I don't like to see arguments of any kind anywhere considering that I am considered to be a nice girl and not a troublemaker, and it's great that the hatchet was buried well, as Arwen said. 5s for you, and I'll take the advice regarding parodying this OS and not do it.
