The Lyrics

Reading the lyrics of the original song, I can almost *see* a vast herd of pigs coming on in an unstoppable onrush, their grimy trotters crushing those unlucky enough to be in front of them and unable to keep up with the herd's leaders. The chief difference is the original song is a lot more cheerful sounding - and like most things Rush, a LOT more serious. Mine *isn't* serious - even if it sounds like a nightmare. (As does the original song...)
Nightmare whirlwinds of changing fashion,
I can see our rumbling society,
Crushing stragglers, it rushes ever on,
Demands we worship it as the diety.

It is the very world we wanted, and we blare it,
It is the world we minted, and we don't share it.
All can see the tension, and they love it!
There are few that don't, and they can *shove* it.

I never wanted to be on this endless wheel,
A world that demands that I ever be,
I cannot get off,
I cannot get off!
In dreams I'm running ahead of the *squeal*,
In the morning the herd runs over me.
I cannot get off,
I cannot get off!

The leader of the pack is an Iron Pig,
Stained with the blood of a multitude,
Burning towns and witches dancing a jig,
In cold ashes lies all solitude.

It is our *perfect* world, and don't *you* dare tear it,
It is made by us all, and we'd best believe it,
But when it falls, will we all grieve it?

I never wanted to be on this endless wheel,
A world that demands that I ever be,
I cannot get off,
I cannot get off!
In dreams I'm running ahead of the *squeal*,
In the morning the herd runs over me.
I cannot get off,
I cannot get off!

No more the nightmare running ahead of the Squeal,
No more the herd always running over me.
I cannot fall off,
I cannot fall off!
Another matter: at least *this* version has an obvious change to its' ending, unlike the original song. That one DOES leave one 'running ahead of the squeal' and about to be turned into a red paste by the pigs coming hard with flailing trotters! If you look a bit, you might see a connection...

Haven't seen you here for a while. A nightmarish vision indeed. I'm going to have to look up the original. I think there are a lot of people out there who think they would welcome the end of the world. At least until it actually happens.
