Hey John Smith: Thanks for the comment. It seems that you are the only person on here that actually gets what I meant when I wrote this. I never said Simple Plan were punk--talented, maybe--but not real punk. Avril tries way too hard to be what the mainstream calls punk. In a way, it's not her fault though. "Pop-punk" breed bands have been sprouting up everywhere (Simple Plan, Sum 41, even Blink 182 are guilty). She just jumped on the bandwagon with the rest.

Well, reading all the comments was quite amusing in an extremely demented and bizarre way. I'm TONS older than all of you, I happened to hear some of Lavigne's stuff while half-watching late-night videos a couple years back. She sounded ok and I bought her CD a month or two later when I happened to see it someplace I was shopping. It's not bad - Don't care and it doesn't matter if she is "punk" or not. A few months later I saw a bit of her doing an interview and it was kind of funny; she thinks she knows a whole lot more than she really does...but then that's really not unusual for someone of that age (which most of you are, probably). When I was 17 or 18 I don't think I knew anybody that had it together more than a very tiny bit, certainly not me. And that's not gonna change much until the world ends. If any of you remember this comment thread when you're...oh, say, around 45-50 years old you will probably laugh your ass off at what you and everyone else said and thought at the time. So have fun one way or the other. Don't get all worked up over whether Avril is or isn't whatever you want her to be, think she is, or whether ANYTHING that the major record companies promote and sell to younger people has anything to do with reality. You like her stuff? Cool...listen to it and dig it. You don't like her stuff?
