The Lyrics

This is a parody of a translated foreign song and yes it does run on that way. I used it to paint a picture of the air war in 1945 over the skies of Germany with the furious air battles between the remnant of the Luftwaffe vs the Allied bomber streams and the panic below. The 109Gs are Messerschmitt Bf 109G fighters and the MKs are aircraft cannon (30mm) tearing up as many bombers as possible. The reference to use the jets is the hope of the Me-262 jet fighter that could not be produced in the numbers needed to counter the US bombers and escorts. Due to lack of fuel and small numbers they were outnumbered in the air at any time up to 300:1 odds. Of 1433 built, only around 300 made it to the front and only 140 actually saw combat for the last year of the war. They killed 509 aircraft and the first jet aces scored double-digit numbers. JV 44 unit scored 50 bomber kills in the last month of the war. The Germans even managed to get a second jet into the air in April 1945- the He-162 which although produced in hundreds only saw 53 aircraft delivered to JG 1 of which only 23 were operational at any one time. In three weeks of random flights they scored 4 kills before surrender. It was a noble effort but futile fight. Germany lost to superior numbers of men and material.
Alarms sounding everywhere
People running really scared
Flak bursts boom here and there
Terror flying in the air
Looking up towards the sky
Flying Fortress flying by
Sticks of bombs drop nearby
Infants in the shelters cry
Enemy, Enemy
Send up 109Gs!!!
Firing, a deadly thing
Bombers are scattering
MK cannons still ablaze
High above the smoky haze
One-thousand bomber raid
They go on for days and days
Remnants of the Third Reich
Crumble after each new strike
Round the clock day and night
Targets of Allied might
Looking up towards the sky
Liberator flying by
Sticks of bombs drop nearby
Infants in the shelters cry
Enemy, Enemy
Send up 109Gs!!!
Firing, a deadly thing
Bombers are scattering
MK cannons still ablaze
High above the smoky haze
One-thousand bomber raid
They go on for days and days
Use the jets
Use the jets
Threat is met
Threat is met
Escorts sent
Escorts sent
No defense
No defense
They didn’t make a difference!
Time is up, assets spent!

Scheisse! A living hell….

That was exciting.

Thanks Porfle. I was going to use 109Ks, but that didn't rhyme and MK-108s, but couldn't fit the entire designation in with the syllables!
