The Lyrics

Original song available here.
Push the clothes-washer gauge
As I insert my two dimes
Terra cotta my gown,
Bleached, drab white overalls
Departed out here tonight
To wash unmended soiled tights
Separating the lights, knits from heavy nonwhites
Now I've piled in the heap
Emptied, hauling the bag
Glass displaying the load
What's this – colorful rags?
Dyes contaminate threads
My concern is legit
Catching glimpses of red
And I'm screaming, "Oh – CRAP!"
Now, green drains from my best - gown
Vibrant pinks glow!

I can’t bust that lock (no washer key)
With all these cent rolls…

Yellow sea, dirty, tainted laun-dr-y
Gape at blue-green ankle-highs
Changing hues before my eyes
Now they're whist'ling 'nice boo-tay'
Viewers tease, cat-calling me
Scoping out my regal thighs…
'Cause my briefs are tie-dyed

I'm coming out in a rage,
Thought I used color-safe Tide
Blotting spots up and down
To pause the stain assault
Retardant fabric amiss
How did it get this bright mist?
Splattered garments untwist, now I’m moaning and pissed
Now the clothes washer beeps
And I’m hauling my ass
Pile is dripping and soaked
Find a dryer, and fast!
Two hour wait for machines
Body’s dripping, I fret
Load is soaking my jeans
And my panties are — fresh
Now, dyes drip down its mesh -
Wow, socks all gain mold

Is it just bad laun-dro-mat-ery?
I pray, please, one load…

Zealous me, spurned, my change rolls uselessly
Slim see-through pink-brownish ties
Ochre bras? Sore are my eyes!
All my wardrobe, gone to waste
Guess I’ll be out, shopping spree
Note from my defeat, I’m wise…
When I dress, I’ll line-dry

(I’m clever...)

EXCELLENT. I hate Killers, but you improved the song big time.

I hate when load is soaking my jeans.

Thanks to LilLaundryMuse, Agrimorfee (agreed, this being the only reason for my continued support of capital punishment ;) ) and Luke (Hell, you have NO IDEA what it's like to have fresh panties. Oh. Oh, okay. You actually don't, do you.).

I don't mind bad food, or bad acting, but bad laun-dro-mat-ery just does my head in - superb syllable-matching Emi - 555

Your parodies never cease to impress the hell out of me. This is probably my favorite of yours so far, and the rhyming and, I agree with Stuart McArthur, the syllably matching was terrific. 555.

Easily followed while listening to the OS. Good rhymes and pacing; The story line - a humdrum chore becoming a paniced mess really fits well with the feel of the OS.

I'll bet you were "Fit to be Tide®" Seems like your Tide® died. Wonderful word play and syllable matching. A wash day miracle turns to a wash day tragedy. Well at least you get to buy new threads. I really liked the use of "laun-dro-mat-ery" - invented words really trip my trigger. Fine job, Emi.

Leave it to Emiloca to make going to the laundromat fun and exciting! This was as great as the rest of your work and very visual.

This is a topic to a song that shouldn't work. . .but my God Emi, this is fantastic, I've never laughed so hard at a "laundry" oriented parody, and this is a very tough OS on top of that, fun parody, fun OS, just fun--which describes pretty much every piece I've ever read by you--very unique, Great parody Emi!

(ABC5) Holy crap in a hat, that was brilliant. It's amazing how many vowel sounds lined up with the original's - normally that's something I couldn't give two craps about, but in this case it was brilliant! 555 for sure!

This was quite good, excellent even. You came out smelling like roses in the end here. Any parody of this OS that makes me wish it were LONGER is a fine piece of writing.
