The Lyrics

The yells, tyros and pointless fights
My frozen toes and nose frostbites
Because of snow without respite
That’s why I hate this time of year

It bugs me, oh yes it gets me
I don’t really care
This time of year
Is my least-loved time of year
Full of treacly stuff and bad, bad weather

Store lines are long
And the kids all whine
Those stupid songs
I ask WHY!?

It’s back to what what it is that I
Really hate about this time of year

It gets me, even upsets me
Though I may seem unfair
This time of year
Is a stupid time of year
‘Cause it makes us all act so untethered

This time of year
Upsets me, oh yes, indeedy!
It is my cross to bear
This time of year
I ingest lots of beer
In order to keep it together

It’s crap, it’s true
Santa—F*** YOU!
I grumpily spend my dough up through
The spring when all those bills are due
Booking towards the tax date, dear

Not debt-free, I’m kvetchy
I scoff like a bear
This time of year
It’s ultimately weird
When we all pretend to love each other

Don’t hug, and please don’t kiss me
Because I don’t care
This time of year
Is a f***ed up time of year
Buy me an ounce of English Leather

Bah Humbug! Don't be such a Scrooge Agrimorfee! Nice twist on this tune but it could have used a BIT more humor in here.

Once again Peter Andersson is rubbing off on you... What does treacly, kvetchy or tyros even mean???

Hey Matthias, I'm not really doing it intentionally (though it has become a fun injoke I guess). Such words often comes from Rhymezone, Urban Dictionary and/or the translation site I use that is actually good enough to suggest synonymes (surprisingly often there's one with the same prefix or suffix as the word I'm looking up - and then in turn translating that one back I discover different secondary meanings that I sometimes can use to expand my theme etc). :-)

I have used Scrabble-level words now and again, it's just a rare occasion to use them nowadays. But if the shoe fits, wear it. The trick is to use them in context. If, for example, this song's singer was a kid or a teenager, I probably wouldn't have used them. Reviewing this now, I did mess up here, though--I thought tyro meant "fighting or debate", but it actually means "novice or beginner". Yiddish is fun to use, even if you aren't Jewish; "kvetchy" means "grumpy". "Treacly" means sweet and syrupy, and contextually here, in a bad way--like treacle.

This one makes me kinda glad I didn't participate this round - the only idea I had was pretty similar (just from a mailman pov). Anyway, nice job. And I like the fact that Peter's was about adults swearing but didn't actually have any swearing in it but yours dropped the f-bomb a couple times. And I just noticed my security code is f9u Santa. (Okay not the Santa part)
