The Lyrics

This is how I and many others feel about overplayed songs like "A Thousand Miles"Enjoy!!!
Hearing this song all day.
Will it pass?
This song's trash,
And it's real gay.

Rhythm's corny and bland,
Will this go away?
Please don't stay,
On the charts.

And I hate her,
And we loathe her,
A one-hit wonder....

If words could kill,
This'd be the type.
These stupid rhymes,
Are the new hype.
'Cause I've heard this song,
A thousand times.
If I hear
It again.......
I'll cry.

It's always songs like these
When they are real new.
One-hit wonder,
That's what I
Think of she.

'Cause here tempo's so wrong
And she don't belong
Seeing her on,
Lame-O MTV.

And I hate her,
And we loathe her,
A one-hit wonder....

Overplayed songs,
Just make me cry,
With crappy rhymes,
That they don't write.
'Cause I've heard this song,
A thousand times.
If I hear
It again.......
I'll cry.

And I, I
Wish that Vanessa would go.
I, I
Now boycott MTV.
I, I
Think that this song does blow.
I, I
Don't....

"Macarena" is dumb,
Rhythm's fast,
Trends have passed,
Will this be done?

Playing piano's overdone.
Just playing old ways
Though it is gay,
To the crowd.

The critics love her,
Pop Rock likes her,
A one-hit wonder....

If words could kill,
This'd be the type.
These stupid rhymes,
Are the new hype.
'Cause I've heard this song,
A thousand times.
If I hear
It again.......

I'd meet N,'sync
And kill those guys,
And the Spice Girls,
With vanilla Ice.
They've overplayed
A thousand miles
If I hear
It again.......
If I hear
It again.......
I'll cry

grrr. Vanessa is NOT pop trash, and the song is great, so thats why I gave you such low ratings.

You are so right. I actually liked this song until it was played over and over and over and over everywhere I went. Now its one of my most hated songs.
nirvana babe - August 02, 2003 - Report this comment
this song was SOOOOOOOOO ova played!
Natasha - August 08, 2003 - Report this comment
It amazes me how people can become famous despite total lack of talent. Vanessa Carlton can't sing for s**t.
EmiLoca - August 31, 2003 - Report this comment
Excellent parody, but unfortunately my opinions on her singing differ from yours...;) I think, although her voice is penetratingly nasal, she's a nice breath of fresh air in a world where we are baby-fed teenybop hip-hop pop. I mean, come on, give her some credit! She writes her own songs, and tickles the ivories pretty dern well...give her a break!
K - November 28, 2003 - Report this comment
anyone who thinks she doesn't have talent is dead wrong...and her voice is original...... the parody is good but the topic sucks. one hit wonder...you wish
Some Random Commenter - February 26, 2004 - Report this comment
You are most certainly entitled to your opinion, but I just have one question....if you REALLY didn't like the song "A Thousand MIles," why did you take the time to write a full-length hate-parody of it? Also, Vanessa did study music and she wrote those lyrics, so you should make sure that you get the facts straight before writing these parodies.

Great parody 5-5-5 i hate that song it is some pop trash
Meriadoc - April 02, 2004 - Report this comment
5-5-5 to offset some of the 1's. I never heard the song before in my life (!) until I downloaded it for the parody contest (and took about 6 hours and three tries before I got a copy that wasn't screwed up). Anyway, I am glad I did, because I quite like it! :-O Excellent parody however; I concur with the sentiment (I can remember thinking that if I EVER again heard "Killing Me Softly" back in '73 that I would smash the radio...)
Rice Cube - April 03, 2004 - Report this comment
You're not kidding dude, they STILL play it. Thank goodness for Hey-Ya to help drown it back outta my head.
Peregrin - April 03, 2004 - Report this comment
Hmmm, harsh votes form the one guys and gals. I gave you 5's for the sentiment! Now I am clearing 3mb off my PC......
wdh - April 04, 2004 - Report this comment
Apparently you angered a few fans with this song ;-) I gave it 5s, might help try to balance it out a bit
Johnny D - April 05, 2004 - Report this comment
Play it again, Sam.

DKTOS - But I'm fiving it to also help offest the ones. I'm sure your pace is not a one and I see the point in the parody so good luck to you on the "A" round of the ABC parody competition.
John Jenkins - April 06, 2004 - Report this comment
Good concept and well expressed. I commend you for provoking some thought although many of the votes appear to be thoughtless. I have a question about the last verse. The first 3 times you used "thousand," it was "thousand times," but in the last verse, it was "thousand miles." Shouldn't that have been "thousand times" too?

I am not familiar with theartist .. bu a lyric it works really well and ther are many contemporary artist that I may be able to say this about..
neminem - April 06, 2004 - Report this comment
I'm tempted to lower your score due to the overuse of the word "gay", which always bugs me when used to mean "stupid." But this song is too amusing to do that, though amusingly enough, I'd never heard this particular song before. It is rather trite, though, I agree with you there.
2nz - April 07, 2004 - Report this comment
Yeah, too many ones here, so I'm fivin' it. All you have to do next time is put a little disclaimer at the bottom that reads "The word 'gay', as appearing in this parody, is not used in the homo-sexual sense, but rather in the pop-cultural derogatory sense."
Spaff.com - April 07, 2004 - Report this comment
Like Merry, I also like the original. (Then again, I haven't heard it a thousand times yet.) Well done - and it's obvious you pissed off a few VC fans. Cool.

S.T.G. - I know I've heard this a couple times but I can't remember it. My sound isn't working so I can't really do or say much here.
Claude Prez - April 09, 2004 - Report this comment
I know I've heard this song numerous times but I'm blanking on how it goes. Anyway, you sure know how to rile some folks up so good job there
Skygge en noir - June 14, 2004 - Report this comment
"Pop rock"(oxymoron of the day, folks!) artists like Vanessa Carlton, Avril Lavigne, and Michelle Branch(though I must note that Michelle is slightly more tolerable than the other two) are just one of the driving forces that led me to ban radio from my personal sanctuary (i.e. my room, the car, etc.) three years ago. Miss Carlton, I'm sorry to say, really is no more than a one-trick pony. And as for the overused hatemail template of "If-you-hate-them-so-much-why-did-you-make-this-blah-blah-blah?", all I have to say is, if you really hate the PARODY so much, why did you take the time to write a comment, hmm? Nice parody. Keep it up.

Good parody, and so true. 5-5-5. I thought the song was okay until the 10th time. Then, it got way too annoying to handle.. same with the other pop crap (although I think Avril Lavgine and Michelle Branch are fine, Sk8er Boi got on my nerves from the first time I heard it).....
pinkgirl - April 18, 2006 - Report this comment
omg!! this is soo true. The song was pretty good but then after hearing it a thousand times i got really bored with it.

Yes, this was overplayed, but it was even more irritating for me since my dad got the sheet music for me one Christmas and made me play it OVER and OVER again. Ugh...

(Bad Song Contest) I d/l TOS. I have heard this before countless times, thugh I can't recall where since I don't watch MTV, nor would my favorite radio station be caught dead playing this. Not a bad song, at least she doesn't engage in a vocal gymnastic exercise. Good spoofin'.
