The Lyrics

This is the story of Romeo and Juliet told from Romeo's perspective and to the rap of 'The Fresh Prince of Bel Air'. I know you are not supposed to parody theme tunes on this site, but as this was released on Will Smith's Greatest Hits album I thought it would be ok. Here is a link to the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM5-i9NH0tM Please pronounce Verona as 'Veron-air", and 'famous' as 'fame-ass'. Thank you, as ever I hope you enjoy.
Now this is a story all about how,
My whole world got turned upside-down.
And I'd like to tell a story of which you're all aware,
About feuding families in the city of Verona.

This is where I was born and raised,
Fighting Capulets is how I spent most of my days.
Kicking out, fighting and punching them all,
And killing some people in a street brawl.

When the Prince came forward and said “This is no good,
Stop making trouble in my neighbourhood!
You've been fighting all year, now my temper's flared,
And if you refuse to stop then none shall be spared.”

He turned and said “no I must be on my way”,
As Ben grabbed me by the hand and said “the ball's this way.”
He proffered his arm and gladly I took it,
I put my best suit on, and said “Rosaline will dig it!”

“To the dance! Romeo, I'm so glad
A chance for you to meet the rich and famous.”
“This is going to be a splendid night,
that lady, what an enchanting sight!

I think she's really pretty, we really need to chat.
I think I'm over Rosaline, I'm totally done with that.
I know I'm enchanted, Juliet's really fair.
I shall make her my bride this night in Verona.

The party was over, and then I snuck out,
I went through the orchard, to her balcony and gave her a shout.
I need to call out to my bride and bring her down here.
As quick as a flash a light appeared,

I didn't tell my dad, just said “come here, my dear.”
We made a quick dash, inspired by love not fear,
and ran to the building to find the Friar there,
We married on that evening in fair Verona.

I thought I was so lucky, this was all going great,
Until the Prince came along and exiled me from the state.
When I returned to the city, my wife had killed herself there,
So I killed myself too, out of total despair.
