The Lyrics

For all the graduating high school swimmers (male/female) who have swam for a summer club, indoor club, or local YMCA during grade school, this parody is for you.
Now and then I think of meets I trained you up for
Like when you took your mark upon the starting block
Told my friends that you swam like a shark
And felt so happy right there on the mark
Though that's all gone but it's a time I still remember

You can try to master towards your favorite type of swimming
From butterfly up to breaststroke, backstroke or free
But when I found out that you moved away
Then you said you that college starts next day
And I'll admit that I am sad it is over

But you didn't have to quit the team
Maybe come back and drill with us till we find your aging
And we would love to see your face
But then that your decision be for the club

No, you do not have to return here
Make new friends, achieve your major
And then swim for college
I guess if that's the way you go

Then you're just a swimmer that I used to coach
Then you're just a swimmer that I used to coach
Then you're just a swimmer that I used to coach

Now and then I look at all the trophies in my dorm
It had me reminiscing of all the big meets that I won
And I would love to hear from you
Seeing if my club team's made anew
You said that you would miss me so
And I'll gladly call and text you
From a swimmer that you used to coach

But you didn't have to quit the team
Maybe come back and drill with us till we find your aging
And we would love to see your face
But then that your decision be for the club

No, you do not have to return here
Make new friends, achieve your major
And then swim for college
I guess if that's the way you go
Then you're just a swimmer that I used to coach

A swimmer (I used to coach)
A swimmer (then you're just a swimmer that I used to coach)
A swimmer (I used to coach)
A swimmer (then you're just a swimmer that I used to coach)

A swimmer

From my life experiences, this parody is written as a homage to all the graduating high school aged swimmers divided into the division called "Seinor I" from my local YMCA's competitive swimming team MLY Phoenix who plan to continue their swimming careers at their future universities.
