Ok, being from the United Kingdom, we call it football, however, I decided to include soccer in the title to avoid confusion with American football. Also, you may be wondering what theft has got to do with the sport. Say if a top player got injured, that would be a major setback. As well as this, fouling a player about to score would be worse compared to preventing a goal in a valid way (e.g. the goalkeeper saving the shot with their hands).
