The Lyrics

What are the chances that New York's Ninth Congressional District would elect a Republican to the U.S. House of Representatives? Roughly the same as finding a vocal version of the definitive instrumental hit of the sixties. In fact, both occurred. For the first time since the nineteen-twenties, a Republican has won the seat from Brooklyn and Queens. And...I found Al Martino's version of Paul Mauriat's classic. ;D

Blue, Blue! The Ninth was Blue,
Three to one Dem in registered too.
New York - turned on its head.
Weiner's old seat is suddenly Red.
Last time the G.O.P.
Won New York's Ninth? 'Twas Nine-teen Twen-ty!
Gloom, doom, and dark despair.
Weiner is gone. Bob Turner's now there.

Dems now say - this is no big deal.
It's no gauge - of Big O.'s great appeal.

Brown, Brown! It's like Scott Brown.(1)
Bay State suprise in Big Apple town.
Gray days - the votes have rained.
All this although Bill Clinton campaigned.

Real effect - will be less than small.
New York Ninth - is redrawn come next fall.

Yel-low! The warning watch.
Who worked for Bob? His Honor Ed Koch!(2)
Not i-deology!
Not a case of Long Island Iced "Tea"!

(1) - Scott Brown, Republican who captured Ted Kennedy's vacant seat in the Massachusettes special Senate election. (2) Former Democratic Mayor of N.Y.C. who pronounces his name "Kotch". In reality, it WAS indeed a repudiation of Obama's policy...his FOREIGN policy concerning Israel. ;D
