It’s close to crisis
But every Christmastime it’s “here we go again now”

So we empty out our savings
Use a lot of credit
Try to find the bargains
It’s no use to dread it
Yes we spend a lot of money
Buying all those presents

So bankers are happy
The charges mount whenever someone swipes a card
It’s kinda crappy
That every year we spend with total disregard now

So we hope that rich relations
Send us lots of dollars
Need to win the lotto
Wallet’s getting smaller
‘Cause we spend a lot of money
Buying all those presents
Making lots of Christmas debt

For we love our sons and daughters
Want to hear their laughter
Want to make them happy
Ever ever after
So we say “it’s only money”
Spend it like we got it
