The Lyrics
This is written from the perspective of a United Kingdom resident or business owner. "Boris" is a reference to Boris Johnson, a Conservative member of parliament who became that country's Prime Minister during summer 2019. "The Continent" is a reference to the European continent which is dominated by members of the European Community. The tunnels referred to in verse 2 are two parallel railway tunnels that link Folkestone, England with Coquelles, France (a third tunnel for use in emergencies runs between those two railway tunnels).

They call The Continent,
And half our exports flow to there
By rail or road through Kent.
Some stuff goes through tunnels
Bulky items go on ships.
We take this trade for granted
As it moves on daily trips.
Now the only thing that Boris needs
Is to slow this traffic down,
But fears of extra paperwork
Are making farmers frown.
Many crafts and businesses
Now rely on foreign trade
And some firms’ viability
Depends on when they’re paid.
Some folks cram the airports,
Whilst more go on the train
But border checks and healthcare needs
Might cause them extra pain.
The fishermen need notice

Detachment in verse 6 is implied if the UK ceases to be a member of the European Union, a course of action suggested by a public vote (advisory referendum) held in June 2016. The mass media habitually refer to that departure process as Brexit.
