The Lyrics

Some things never change... but we must remember which administration got us into the whole mess.
Middle-Eastern world it keeps explodin’
Violence flarin’, peace erodin’
Al-Quaeda they kill the people votin’
While Dick Cheney’s smiling from the profits that he’s smokin’
While the city of New Orleans has bodies floatin’

But you tell me over and over and over again my friend
Ah you don’t believe we’re still on the Eve of Destruction

Don’t you understand what I’m trying to say?
Can’t you feel the fears I’m feeling today?
With this idiot Bush people dying each day
It’s the power he craves, sends our troops to their graves
Take a look around you boy, it’s bound to scare you boy

And you tell me over and over and over again my friend
Ah you don’t believe we’re still on the Eve of Destruction

Yeah this shit’s so bad, these politics I’m hatin’
You’re sitting there just, vegetatin’
We can’t send our youth to die for corporations
Handful of Senators with their war authorization
And marches alone only builds our frustration
While human respect just keeps disintegratin’
It’s what you’d expect from this corrupt administration

And you tell me over and over and over again my friend
Ah you don’t believe we’re still on the Eve of Destruction

Think of all the hate from Darfur to China
Then take a look around, to Jena Loo-si-ana
We can send in our troops or bomb them from space
But when will we learn it’s a god-damn disgrace
The poundin’ of the drums, the shame and disgrace
While we bury our dead they’ll lie to your face
Blame your next-door neighbor, he isn’t from the same race

And you tell me over and over and over and over again my friend
Ah you don’t believe we’re still on the Eve of Destruction

Nice update on this classic - but what has changed in the last year - still fighting, bankers do what they want to do, going deeper into debt, etc.

I have about 30 different recordings of the original, along with a dozen or so answers and parodies. My all time favorite pop song. You have created a good variation on the theme. Too bad this 1965 hit is, with a couple minor updates, just as relevant today as it was then.
