The Lyrics
Eve of Destruction by Jeffrey Moran
The whole world was warm and green, even arctic winters were much like spring,
Tropical weather fit for a queen, and more kinds of dinosaurs than you’ve ever seen.
It’s hard to believe they’re on the eve of destruction.
Sixty-six million years ago, didn’t see that big rock, don’t you know.
And there was no running away from the impact on that day.
None were saved, the world was a grave For dinosaurs in the tidal waves.
And they didn’t believe they were on the eve of destruction.
Well, it’s too bad that asteroid collided with earth, couldn’t avoid.
Lots of creatures pretty annoyed by that six-mile diameter spheroid.
Like atomic bombs on mega-steroids. Most living things destroyed.
But birds and mammals were overjoyed as into niches they deployed.
Yeah, they didn’t grieve about the eve of destruction.
That big rock landed in the ocean sand off the coast of the Yucatan.
So watch out for what comes from space, after a crash it’s not the same old place.
Tsunamis and earthquakes for several days, then clouds blocked the sun’s rays.
The dead were buried in volcanic ash, preserved as fossils from the past.
There was no reprieve from the eve of destruction.
